Think Green!

St. Patrick's Day leprechaun holding shamrockHere at GotPrint, we truly do appreciate the color green. (Visit our website if you haven’t already noticed.) So it’s no wonder that we love St. Patty’s Day.

And since St. Patrick, otherwise known as the patron saint of Ireland, chose the shamrock as his tool for spreading his message, I thought it might be a good idea to talk a wee bit about some green and environmentally friendly options as an homage to good ‘ol St. Patrick and his lucky shamrocks.

Reduce. We all know recycling is more eco-friendly as opposed to throwing things away, but do we take enough effort to reduce the waste in the first place? Whether it’s paper, water, or other supplies and resources, we can always reduce our waste by using less and doing more with what we have. One sure method of using less is buying less. The less paper you buy, for example, the less you’re going to use throughout the course of that month in order to put off that next trip to Office Depot.

Reuse. It’s simple; reuse everything you have if it still has some usability. Printed paper can be reused as scratch paper to take notes on, water bottles can be refilled and reused, and any supplies that are a little run down can be repaired and utilized over and over again. (Think superglue, paint, and a good washing with soap.)

Recycle. And if all else fails, recycle your supplies and purchase recycled products. At GotPrint, we offer two different types of recycled paper stock for business cards, postcards, and many other promotional tools, all using eco-friendly inks and solvents based on soy.

So before you chug a pint of Guinness or drink another Irish Car Bomb and pinch everyone you see who isn’t wearing green, don’t forget the lucky shamrock, and think Green! (At the very least, by recycling those cans and bottles if you’re celebrating at home.)

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
