Supporting LA2DC, in Recognition of Genocides

gen.o.cide
The deliberate killing of a group of
people, especially those of a particular
ethnic group or nation.

There are many meaningful, good causes to support, but genocide recognition is one that is on top of our list, a cause we believe in strongly. We’ve all read about genocide in history books and learned about them through documentaries, and know enough to know that it isn’t just a piece of history, never to repeat itself. On the contrary, there are genocides that have not even been recognized as such by certain nations, and genocide has occurred even in the late 20th century, to the devastation of millions of people. Still, the devastation, consequences, and denial of such events affect countless individuals globally.

Which is why GotPrint is proud to announce that we are sponsoring LA2DC, a cross country marathon taking place in April. LA2DC, whose mantra is “stop genocides by recognizing other genocides,” believes that the failure to recognize genocides has led and will lead to further atrocities committed against groups of people, under common guises that have been used such as war. Their plea, to all nations including the United States, is to unite to bring awareness and recognition to the atrocious events that have continued to affect so many people.

“We believe that an extraordinary and newsworthy event has the power to shake the world into awareness. In 2015 it will be the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, and yet genocides are still affecting countless lives and communities. Some massacres have gained worldwide notoriety but many have been swept aside leaving survivors to suffer in silence.”
